About Us
In 1994, Southwest Greensburg adopted the Adaptive Baseball program, the first of its kind in Westmoreland County. The program began collaboration of Linda Mansfield and Jean Lohr who saw a need for players with disabilities to play baseball on a team. They sought the advice of special-needs professionals, but opted to not include a scorekeeper or complex baseball rules into the program. Each player plays the field and bats to the best of his or her ability. The program operates with an all-volunteer staff.
The program includes:
Through the years, the staff has watched as players have reached and caught their stars! We have seen success; we have seen miracles.
The players constantly thank us for allowing them to play. We can only thank them for sharing their lives with us. |
